In honor of national lipstick day, I’ve compiled a list of my top lipsticks of all time. All of these will be either traditional bullet lipsticks or liquid lipsticks and I’ll include lip swatches for each one.
This list goes from #7 on the list to #1 with two honorable mentions. Keep in mind that all of these are favorites and it was very hard to put them in an order!
Honorable mention: Too Faced Melted matte lipstick in Queen B
This is my favorite true matte liquid lipstick. It’s such a beautiful purple color and the formula is basically smudge proof. This formula isn’t too matte or too drying and the packaging is super cute! This has an easy-to-apply wand and it looks simply beautiful. This also matches perfectly with an E.L.F. lip liner and a Julep lip gloss (see full tutorial here).
Honorable mention: Burt’s Bees matte lip crayon in Carolina Coast
This same crayon in sedona sands is also one of my favorite shades, but I thought this list had enough nude shades. California Coast is a light baby pink that’s almost lavender. I think this is a really simple shade that looks beautiful. It has a matte finish, but isn’t overly drying and (the best part) is only $10! I highly recommend this shade or any shade from this line. You really can’t go wrong.
7. Rimmel London Kate Moss lasting finish lipstick in 56 Boho Nude
This is the most budget friendly lipstick on this list at $4. The packaging is a pretty rose gold and the shade inside is a lovely nude. It also doesn’t have a strong scent, like these Rimmel London lipsticks. I wasn’t sure what to think of this lipstick when I first bought it, but I soon realized that I was reaching for it every time I needed an easy to wear lipstick. This has a cream finish.
6. L’oreal infallible liquid lipstick in 312 Nude Star
I bought this completely on the recommendation of @Rachhloves and I love it. It’s so smooth like a melted down lipstick and this color is beautiful. The only downside is that these have the sticky sweet smell of almost all L’oreal lip products. That fades away soon after application, so that’s not enough to make me stop using them. This is super moisturizing, yet fully pigmented, and I’ve been loving it as I move away from matte liquid lipsticks.
5. Julep It’s Whipped in Amore
I adore this shade! This was also mentioned in my favorite bold lipsticks for summer because it’s such a lively shade. The texture of this is a mousse and it feels weightless on the lips. It isn’t drying at all, however the staying power of this isn’t great. The packaging in this is also pretty and the applicator is an interesting shape that hugs my lips for perfect application.
4. Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipstick in Cava
This fully deserves it’s spot on my list. I reviewed it recently here and I love literally everything about it, from the full pigment to the lovely citrus scent, to the unique color and the cute packaging. These lipsticks are also all natural, which is awesome! Another cool thing is right after I bought this lipstick, Bite launched it’s cava collection featuring their lip pencil, their multistick, and one of the crème finish lip crayons. It’s limited edition, so I’d shop it while you can!
3. Antipodes natural lipstick in Remarkably Red
I absolutely love this lipstick. It’s got a beautiful matte finish and such a lovely bold color. My favorite way to wear this is out to dinner with a lighter eye look and it’s super flattering. The packaging is also pretty- it’s a small matte black tube with a wave etched into the top. The shape of the bullet is also unusual; It’s completely rounded with no specific side to apply on. This is also amazing because it’s all natural, like the Bite Beauty lipstick. In fact, their slogan is “so healthy you can almost eat it!”
2. Burberry Kisses lipstick in 17 English Rose
I have all three lipsticks from Burberry in the shade English rose and this one is my favorite. It’s the slightest bit darker than my natural lip color which looks simple and beautiful on my lips. This is one of the priciest lipstick I own, but I really love it. The packaging is also beautiful with the traditional Burberry check set against silver. This is in the featured image (Kisses is the one closest to the camera).
1. Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipstick in Very Victoria
This is my favorite nude lipstick of all time. It’s a light matte so it doesn’t emphasize lip lines or dry patches. The tip is a specific shape that claims to “make your lips look fuller.” I tend to think claims like that are simply exaggeration, but my lips do look a bit bigger when I apply it…
It’s also a perfect brown nude shade that compliments any look ever. The packaging on this one is a stunning rose gold tube. This and the Burberry lipstick are my two nude lipsticks for any occasion: one rose, and one brown.
