Winky Lux whipped cream primer review

Makeup Reviews, Reviews

Ciao!

So I tend to keep an eye out for gimmicky products. I mean, what do I want more: a product that looks cool or a product that works? Sometimes both, but I’m mostly looking for things that do their job.

That’s why I was incredibly skeptical of this product. I’d checked it out on the website before I received it as PR and was really surprised that so many people liked this product. After I got it, it took me forever to test it out because primer isn’t something I wear when I’m trying to get my makeup done quick and I was testing out two other primers at the time.

Here’s the thing about Winky Lux: they boast that their prices are affordable, when in reality they’re sort of a middle ground between brands like Colourpop and brands like Too Faced. The prices are actually quite similar to brands like Covergirl or L’oreal- brands that were once cheap but are now drastically raising their prices.  At $19, it was the cheapest in my collection featuring the Hourglass mineral veil primer ($19/3 oz or $54/1.01oz), the Julep illuminating and mattifying primers ($28/1 oz), and my all time favorite BECCA first light priming filter ($38/30ml).

However, $19 still isn’t exactly cheap, so how does this stack up?

Pre and post travel skincare

Blog, The Bella Edit

Ciao!

So this summer, I’ve been doing a ton of traveling. And despite my best attempts, my skin showed it. I have combination skin with incredibly oily eyelids, slightly oily nose, and a dry rest of the face. With all of the traveling I’ve been doing, I break out on my nose and the rest of my face feels like all of the moisture has been sucked out.

I actually had the idea for this post when I arrived home after a long flight and could barely keep my eyes open. In my sleep deprived state, I decided it’d be a great idea to recommend what I was using to everyone else. I can’t remember exactly what I put on that night, but here’s a bunch of things I think would be great!

So here’s a list of my skin care recommendations for travel. This is all for plane flights because I find my skin takes the hardest hit from those. Enjoy! Keep reading

Gone swatching: ABH blush trios

Blog, Gone swatching

Ciao!

While in New York, I got to swatch a ton of new releases at the giant Sephora in midtown. I was really interested in these because Anastasia Beverly Hills seems to be the unofficial queen of cheek products, but they have yet to introduce a blush.

I was really happy with the colour selection in these. A lot of times, blushes completely ignore deeper skin tones, but there are plenty of deeper and brighter blushes. Let’s check it out!

Colourpop + Lush haul!

Blog, Hauls

Ciao!

If you’d told me before I started my blog I’d be ordering from Colourpop, I would’ve said your were out of your mind.

Way back in September (almost a year ago!) I was beginning to get into makeup. I heard about Colourpop for the first time when they were in the news for their… um poorly named sculpting sticks. The line was heavily criticized for it’s lack of diverse colors and their offensive names for the darker colors such as Typo, Dume, and Yikes. You can read more about it here.

I vowed to never order from them, but as time went on I became interested in their products. Every time an influencer mentioned Colourpop, I cringed slightly. I began to feel like I was hating them for a small mistake, something they’d apologized for. So now, a year later I placed an order from them right after the wildly successful launch of their concealers, which have a line of 15 shades.

15 shades isn’t a lot, but it’s progress.

I was super excited and wanted to try a few things without getting anything I didn’t need. So, I sadly passed on the pressed bronzer and highlight and the super shock cheek products.

I also picked up a few things from Lush, one a well loved repurchase and one something new to try. Keep reading to see what I got!

E.L.F. blush palette in light review

Makeup Reviews, Reviews

Ciao!

I don’t consider E.L.F. to be a hyped brand like Morphe or Sigma, but it’s definitely well liked and very talked about in the beauty sphere. I’d heard a lot about this palette specifically on social media, and decided to pick it up while at my local drugstore.

Did I need more blush? No.

Was it only $6? Yes.

Into my cart it went.

E.L.F. has always seemed like a different type of drugstore brand. Their products are incredibly affordable, bested only by Wet ‘n wild. I mean, at $6, I might as well be paying for the full mirror (which is way bigger than the one that comes with Benefit Hoola and that’s 5x the price)!

Unlike most drugstore brands (I’m looking at you Milani), E.L.F. has incredibly sleek packaging. Most of it is their signature matte black, featured in this palette, but I’ve noticed how they’ve began to introduce a more high end reflective packaging.

So it’s clear that E.L.F. has a strong following for both it’s affordable prices, mostly good quality and sleek packaging.

But I was still a little skeptical. Does this palette reflect it’s price, or does it compare to those sold at Sephora and other high end stores?

#swatchmystash

Blog, Lifestyle

Ciao!

This next week (or so) I’m going to be swatching some of my favorite products on my Instagram account (you can check that out here).

Which products? Mostly my old favorites that I feel haven’t been getting enough attention. However, I’ll definitely be featuring some new things I’ve fallen in love with. The best part is that I’ll be using stencils to swatch these products, meaning they’ll be much more interesting then the swatches found on the blog.

Julep what your skin needs restorative face milk

Reviews, Skincare reviews

Ciao!

When I first got this, my reaction was sort of “what do I do with this?”

Full disclosure: I received this as a gift from Julep and I never intended to buy it. So when I got it, I was a little confused. I had no idea what a face milk was and I don’t know how I was supposed to use it. I’d always assumed face milks were either like toners (another mystery), or had anti aging purposes not intended for my skin.

Does it go under makeup? Does it work as a moisturizer? Does it clear my skin? Does it hydrate it? Keep reading to find out exactly what this does and what I thought of it!

Gone swatching: bite beauty nearly neons collection

Blog, Gone swatching

Ciao!

Bite beauty has finally created the antithesis to their popular Edgy Neutrals lipstick line. Both lines are using their amazing amuse bouche formula that I’ve raved about here and here. It’s creaming, long wearing, and super pigmented.

I was thrilled when I saw on their Instagram that Bite Beauty launched this collection of vibrant neons. By the way, there’s nothing “nearly neon” about this. These are pure neon lipsticks.

It’s amazing when brands launch collections featuring unconventional colors and more interesting shades then your average line of boring nude lipsticks. While I’m not planning on buying any of these lipsticks because (for now) purple lipstick isn’t something I wear, I think this collection is perfect for people who love colorful lipsticks.
