I’d always loved the Burt’s Bees normal lip balm, so I was super excited to test out their pigmented crayons. I bought mine based off the recommendation of Stephanie from the Beauty Bucketeer (read her review here) and loved the way Niagara overlook looked on her. When I got to the store, I was worried Niagara overlook would be too dark, so I picked up Sedona sands first. Later, I bought Carolina coast and most recently picked up Niagara overlook which I mentioned in a recent haul.

The packing is kind of meh for me. It doesn’t look very high end, but I do like the honeycomb print on the lid. I also like how the packaging is clear so you can see the color through the clear cap. However, this makes every smear on the lid incredibly visible and you can see if the top of the lipstick has been smashed. The lettering in the corresponding color is also quite nice.
These have a rounded tip that I really like for getting a clean application. After you wear down the top, they twist up to get more product out of the bottom.
I really like the formula of these! They apply smoothly without patchiness or clinging to dry spots. I find that Niagara overlook is a little more glossy than the rest, but for the most part these have a satin matte finish comparable to Charlotte Tilbury’s matte revolution lipstick. These are relatively non-drying on the lips and they last for about 4 hours on the lips if I don’t eat or drink anything. I don’t have any issue with these sliding off my lips or bleeding into my lip line either.
They smell a bit like crayons which is probably due to the high quantity of waxes in the crayon. They have a bit of a waxy feel, but I don’t mind.
Sedona sands is my favorite shade in this line because it’s such an easy to wear nude. It’s a beautiful my lips but better shade that mimics my natural lip color, yet adds a bit of pop.
Carolina coast is light pink with blue undertones that is one of the few pure pink shades I own. It’s almost lavender. This is beautiful with the Julep lip gloss in graceful over top. It also matches really well with the pink blush (top left) from the E.L.F. blush palette in light. I love this so much, that I gave it an honorable mention on my list of top lipsticks here.
Niagara overlook is the one shade I’m not exactly sure about. It pulls quite orange on me and sometimes that matches my look, while sometimes it isn’t exactly right for me. This shade is also sheer and needs a little building up to get the full color. I don’t think I’ll declutter it, but I definitely won’t buy it again.
Overall, I like these lipstick a lot. Sedona sands is one of my favorite nude lipsticks of all time and Carolina coast is also a lovely shade. I don’t recommend Niagara overlook because it’s got more of a sheer texture and the color isn’t perfect.
