Ciao!

I’ve been running this blog now for about a month and a half and I thought it was time to ask all of you exactly what you think of this blog. I’ve created a survey on Google forms here so please go check that out and give me any feedback you have! It’s completely anonymous and I really want to hear what you have to say.

Thank you very much!

Gone swatching: Tarte clay face shaping palette

Blog, Gone swatching

Ciao!

While I was in New York I got the chance to visit the largest Sephora in the world, stocked with all the newest releases, one of which being this palette. I was really excited for the launch of this on Tarte and I was super excited to test it out for myself.

Tarte describes this as a palette that can be used to sculpt all parts of your face. You can use this as eyeshadow, brow powder, contour powder or bronzing powder. All of the shades in this are matte.

New York haul

Blog, Hauls

Ciao!

Last week I was in New York, beauty capital of the world. I did quite a bit of shopping while I was there, but both places I bought from were places I couldn’t go at home.

First I went to the glossier showroom where I swatched everything they sold and picked up a few things for myself.

Second I went to the Bite Beauty lip lab where I created my own lipsticks alongside my mom. I’ll be doing individual posts on both of those experiences soon!

I also had the amazing opportunity to visit Winky Lux and received a ton of PR from them. I won’t be including that in this post because not all of the items are available for purchase yet, however expect reviews soon!

How to repair/repress a broken powder

Blog, The Bella Edit

This was so not a post I wanted to make.

I’d seen post like this floating around the beauty world (mostly on Instagram), and each time I’d thought something along the lines of this: Okay, that’s good to know but I never want to have to use it.

I mean who purposely breaks their makeup?

These people. Ok seriously, check out that YouTube channel, it’s super cool and they have a video specifically on BECCA champagne pop here.

Anyways, I was taking photos of the BECCA highlighters I own which are champagne pop and the two highlighters from the BECCA x Chrissy Teigen palette (review here). I had just finished and was carrying them back inside when I noticed that the cover of the BECCA x Chrissy palette has a sort of sticky surface where the BECCA compact would stick to top of the palette.

I began to tilt the palette to see if the compact would stay on top, and it did- for like two seconds. It crashed to the floor and product spilled everywhere. I had a moment of silence for my poor $38 compact, then used a fan brush to sweep all of the broken pieces into the compact. I didn’t lose too much product, but my floor had shimmery marks on it for the rest of the day.

July Favorites

Blog, Favorites

Ciao!

When I went to organize the products for this post, it literally took me five seconds. All of these products I’ve been using non stop throughout July and I’ve loved them. A few are new to me and I’ve recently got in the last month and the rest are products I’ve had sitting in my collection and have only started to use them this month.

Keep reading to find out what I’ve been loving this month!

Gone swatching: Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche liquified lipsticks

Gone swatching

Ciao!

In my opinion, Bite Beauty can do no wrong. I love their Amuse Bouche lipsticks (review here), and I’ve also recently tested out their whipped cherry lip scrub and their priming stick. I typically don’t use either of those things because I can easily make a lip scrub myself and I get lazy when lip looks require multiple steps because that’s hard to apply on the go.

However, in the time I’ve tested those items out, I’ve loved them. Bite beauty products are all natural which is great especially for a lipstick company because I care most about how natural products are if they’re on my lips.

I was at the Bite Beauty lip lab in New York (post on that soon!) while I was there last week where they had the entire Amuse Bouche liquified lipstick for sale and to test. I, of course,  jumped at the chance to swatch it all took photos to share with all of you!

Urban Decay Nooner vs Kiko Milano 46

Blog, The dupe test

Ciao!

Nooner from the Naked 3 palette is one of my favorite shades of all time, let alone my favorite shade from the Naked 3 palette. I love a great taupe eyeshadow and a rosy taupe is even better! However, I recently bought a couple of eyeshadows from Kiko Milano (one was reviewed here) and I noticed that one of the shades from the Wet and Dry line in the color 46 seemed very similar to nooner. As soon as I got home, I tested both eyeshadows to see if they had any similarities.

Let’s check it out!

Gone swatching: Glossier boy brow

Gone swatching

Ciao!

I was recently at the Glossier HQ in New York which was incredibly cool. It was an amazing experience to have, the coolest part being that I got to swatch and photograph every single thing they sell (which means you should expect a ton of posts with all of the glossier products). This post will be about one of their best selling items: the boy brow.

I was super excited about this except for one catch: would the brown be too dark? I’d seen varying images on social media about how strong it is so I was unsure.

As far as brows go, I’ve only used two brow products in my life (besides, horror of horrors, a shimmery eyeshadow), which was the Julep Don’t Leave Your Brows at Home and the Benefit brow gel. The Benefit brow gel left my brows crust and shiny in an unnatural way and the Julep pomade was both bad and way too warm for me.

So with that being said, I went into this experience excited, but a little hesitant. Would it be like the Benefit gel? Would the color match my brows? What was in store for me inside the Glossier Showroom?

My favorite lipsticks

Blog, Favorites

Ciao!

In honor of national lipstick day, I’ve compiled a list of my top lipsticks of all time. All of these will be either traditional bullet lipsticks or liquid lipsticks and I’ll include lip swatches for each one.

This list goes from #7 on the list to #1 with two honorable mentions. Keep in mind that all of these are favorites and it was very hard to put them in an order!
