Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm Review

Reviews, Test Drive

Ciao bella!

I have seen this balm literally all over my Instagram feed. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as a first scoop of a balm, so it’s very instagram friendly. Luckily, I got a sample of this cleaning balm a month ago at the Sephora VIB sale, so I’ve been testing it out for a bit.

The Farmacy Green Clean balm is a cleansing balm designed for removing makeup and cleansing your face. There are two sizes: a 3.4oz jar for $34 or a 1.7oz jar for $22. The larger size comes with a spatula. The product won an Allure Best of Beauty award in 2017, and it also has the clean at Sephora checkmark (which, y’know, doesn’t mean a whole lot as far as the safety of the ingredients, but I just wanted to include it). It’s also vegan, cruelty free, gluten free, and comes in recyclable packaging.

I’ve been trying this out for the past few weeks to take off everything from my everyday swipe of mascara and brow gel, to a full face of baked and set makeup because quarantine is getting to me. So, I have a pretty good sense of how this works with my skin.

Let’s get into my thoughts on it!

Glossier Futuredew: Primer or skincare?

Reviews, Test Drive

Ciao bella!

So, Glossier futuredew? Oh boy.

I didn’t take any notice of this when it came out because it seemed like a gimmicky product. All of the reviews I could find were pretty torn: Glossier reddit called this a mess of a face oil, but everyone on Instagram seemed to love it.

However, I never picked it up both because of the price, and because despite the really aesthetic pink bottle, oily glitter is not really my thing.

I ordered from Glossier a few months ago and I got a sample of this with my purchase, so I decided to try it out. I’ve been using this sample for a few weeks (the small packet actually lasts for a while!) and I think by now I’ve formed an opinion on it.

Test drive: The benefit POREfessional primer

Reviews, Test Drive

Ciao bella!

In my most recent Sephora haul (posted here), I got a ton of primers. I ordered the BECCA first light primer, which I love, and then Sephora sent me a Smashbox set with 4 samples, and this primer. Essentially, I ordered 1 primer and got 6.

Yay, I guess?

Anyways, this is such a popular primer, so I’m glad I got a sample of it because until now I’d never tried it before! The Benefit Roller Lash is my all time favorite mascara, so I had high hopes for this.

Let’s see how it measured up!

test drive: becca ultimate coverage foundation

Reviews, Test Drive

Ciao!

Recently, I ordered the Rose Quartz highlight from BECCA (review coming soon– spoiler alert I love it) and received three foundation samples with my order. Of course, none of them were my shade, so I mixed two to attempt to cover my face.

Key word: attempt.

There was so little product in these sample pods that I could hardly cover my face once, let alone trying it out multiple times to get a full opinion. I wore it for one day over the BECCA first light primer with no setting powder or other makeup, and buffed it out with the Tarte air buffer brush.

Keep reading for swatches of the three colors I received and a short review!

Test drive: The body shop Amazonian acai face mask

Reviews, Test Drive

Ciao!

I recently reviewed The Body Shop’s matcha green tea face mask (you can check it out here), and fell so much in love with it that I even included it in my September favorites. After that, I ordered some of the mini mask samples from The Body Shop’s website (they had a 3 for 2 deal on them) to test out the rest of the masks and I picked up some in store samples.

This was one of the in store samples, so no matter how hard I tried, I only had enough for one use. Keep reading to see my thoughts on it!

Test drive: Glossier milky jelly cleanser

Reviews, Test Drive

EDIT: I have since tried this product again, and this is no longer my current opinion. I’ve chosen to leave this post up, but you can read the updated review here.

Ciao!

Guess who’s still posting from her visit to Glossier HQ in July? This girl.

While at the Glossier HQ, I picked up a couple of things (you can read about it here) as well as a sample of their incredibly hyped milk jelly Cleanser.

Quick tip: if you order from the Glossier website, you have the option to select either the priming moisturizer (see review here) or the milk jelly cleanser. I highly recommend you use pick a sample because the worst case scenario is that you found something that doesn’t work for you and you paid nothing from it. In the Glossier HQ, you have the same option to pick between those samples but no one will tell you unless you ask. So I’m telling you. If you visit Glossier HQ, ask them what samples they have to offer, because it’s a really great way to determine if something works.

Anyways, I was really excited to test this out, mostly because of the repeated claim that this will “save my white towels from mascara.” I don’t use white towels to remove makeup (because why tempt fate?), but my only issue with my current cleanser from Julep (review here) is that the oil dissolves my makeup perfectly, but does so by spreading it around my face, so the makeup still gets on my towel.

I hoped that the Glossier milk jelly cleanser would fix this minor issue. Otherwise, I was dubious that it’d beat my love your bare face oil from Julep. Keep reading to find out my results!

Test drive: Glossier priming moisturizer

Reviews, Test Drive

Ciao!

So a few weeks ago, I tested out the priming moisturizer by Glossier because I received a sample of it with my most recent glossier post.

However, as I sat down to write this post, I realized I didn’t have my camera with me that had all of my photos on it for this post.

Nice job me.

Luckily I had written down some notes about what I thought, so I was still able to write the review, but this post is a few weeks later than I expected. Keep reading to hear my thoughts on yet another product from this super hyped brand!

Test drive: Sephora birthday gift

Reviews, Test Drive

Ciao!

Welcome to Test Drive, where I’ll be reviewing free samples, gift with purchases, or other forms of smaller makeup products. First up is this birthday gift available for Beauty Insiders, VIB’s, and VIB Rouges at Sephora. There are three available gifts, but I picked the makeup option from Tarte cosmetics.

First, I’m sorry to say that this is the only makeup option and it’s clearly directed at people with fair skin. It’s a light blush and a light liquid lipstick that clearly won’t work for anyone darker than a light-medium skin tone. I hope Sephora realizes this and makes two offering for makeup or a more adjustable option like a red lipstick and deeper blush that can be more universal.

I love Tarte and they’re one of my favorite brands, so I was excited when I saw this. Let’s take a look!
