Colourpop + Lush haul!

Blog, Hauls

If you’d told me before I started my blog I’d be ordering from Colourpop, I would’ve said your were out of your mind.

Way back in September (almost a year ago!) I was beginning to get into makeup. I heard about Colourpop for the first time when they were in the news for their… um poorly named sculpting sticks. The line was heavily criticized for it’s lack of diverse colors and their offensive names for the darker colors such as Typo, Dume, and Yikes. You can read more about it here.

I vowed to never order from them, but as time went on I became interested in their products. Every time an influencer mentioned Colourpop, I cringed slightly. I began to feel like I was hating them for a small mistake, something they’d apologized for. So now, a year later I placed an order from them right after the wildly successful launch of their concealers, which have a line of 15 shades.

15 shades isn’t a lot, but it’s progress.

I was super excited and wanted to try a few things without getting anything I didn’t need. So, I sadly passed on the pressed bronzer and highlight and the super shock cheek products.

I also picked up a few things from Lush, one a well loved repurchase and one something new to try. Keep reading to see what I got!

So what did I order from Colourpop?

1. Yes Please palette

This was the reason for my order. I missed out on the late July launch of this (purposefully) and instantly regretted it. This time I was sure to be on the website when it restocked and I was thrilled to get my hands on it.

I’ve been loving it thus far, mostly for how versatile and cohesive it is. There are only 4 “neutral” colors ( full zip, champs, note to self, French kiss) making it impossible to get a neutral look. And I love that.

This palette is a wearable bold. My favorite shades thus far are louie (a complete dupe for the shade lumbre from the naked heat palette), blingspoiled, and GNO. All of those shades are unique to this palette and are absolutely stunning. Thus far I’ve done a mostly red look with it, a sunrise look, a neutral(ish) look, and a yellow look. I can’t wait to play around with this more.

It’s currently out of stock, but you can shop it here on the Colourpop website.

2. Super Shock eyeshadows in bill and sugar

I couldn’t order from Colourpop without trying some of their famed super shock shadows. They are cream shadows, which I’ve never used before, however their texture is fairly cream to powder.

I got bill, a matte purplish shadow and sugar, an ultra-glittery blue shadow. I almost bought muse, but decided I wanted to something a little more fun, so blue it is.

I’m not quite sure what I think of these. I haven’t experimented with bill a lot and all the times I’ve used sugar I’ve had to really work to make it (somewhat) wearable. The issue is not that it’s blue. The issue is it’s glittery and gets all over my face.

You can shop both of these on the Colourpop website here (bill) and here (sugar).

3. Lippie Stix in lumiere

I wanted to try a couple of lip products so I grabbed a Lippie Stix in lumiere. I was worried it would be too dark, but it’s a beautiful purplish shade that’s not too bold. It is really matte, so I’ve been wearing it with a lip balm under for everyday wear so it’s a little more sheer.

You can shop this here on the Colourpop website.

4. Ultra Satin Lip in aquarius

I was so excited to get this because I’ve always wanted to try one of the shades from the Kathleen lights X Colourpop collection. I was worried about this shade being too light, but it’s fine.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with the formula, though. I avoided the ultra-matte lipsticks because I heard they were way too drying, so I thought this would be like the L’oreal infallible lipsticks. It isn’t because it still dries down matte, but it’s comfortable to wear.

You can shop this here on the Colourpop website.

5. Pencil brush

This I was not a fan of. I thought I’d be much smaller like this brush, however this is far too big to use on my upper lash line. I have been using it to blend shadows across the lid or to apply shadow to the outer corner, but I’m not to happy with it. The ferrule of the brush is also very big, and I worry about water getting into while I wash the brush.

You can shop this here on the Colourpop website.

Here’s what I got from Lush!

1. Charity pot body lotion

This is a 3rd time repurchase. I absolutely love this for a post-shower moisturizer and will continue to repurchase it again and again. It’s a really soothing lotion that makes my skin super soft and it has a nice scent!

You can shop this here on the lush website.

2. Dirty shaving cream

I’ve been wanting to try a shaving cream so I picked this one up off the Lush website. I’m still not sure if it’s meant for men’s faces or women’s legs, but I grabbed it anyways and am looking forward to trying it. It has a very strong scent.

You can shop this here on the lush website.

3. Respect your elders soap

This was a sample that just appeared in my box. I didn’t pick this out, but I’m excited to try it out.

You can shop this here on the lush website.

Expect reviews on everything coming soon!

Ciao bella!
