So Anthropolgie has a killer natural beauty section (and the store near me has recently revamped it) so I have a ton of natural beauty swatches to share.
As you know, between my raving about the un-cover up (I wear shade 00) and the living luminizer, I’m a fan of RMS, a brand that specialized in simple makeup with natural ingredients. So imagine my excitement when I found out RMS was launching lipsticks! I’m a huge lipstick fan, so I was so excited to try them out, as well as one lip liner.
Keep reading for swatches!
I think it goes without saying that sweet nothing is my favorite shade of them all, and the one that I’m most likely to buy. It’s the ultimate purple mauve that I’ve been absolutely loving lately. Brain teaser is a warmer brown that wouldn’t be super flattering on me, but is a pretty color nonetheless. Vogue rose is a lovely light coral that seems like the perfect color for spring. Pretty vacant is a color that reminds me of Aurora pink from the Julep It’s Balm line; bold, yet subdued. I tend to like coral lipsticks, but I like to go monochromatic and match it with a peach blush like this one and a peach eyeshadow palette like this one.
I’m also a big fan of the formula. As you can see from the swatches above, these are full coverage. They glided onto my hand smoothly. These lipsticks have a cream finish, so I expect they won’t have an incredibly long wear time. However, I don’t think they’ll be as prone to bleeding out into the lip lines.
Now for the reds! Clearly Rose-Marie Swift (founder of RMS) decided she wanted as many varieties and variations of a classic red lipstick as possible. I’ve recently been getting into darker lipsticks, so I’m super excited about this part of the line!
Rebound is about as fire engine red as you can get. It’s the perfect red lipstick for someone who wants to make a statement. RMS red, despite its name, is not actually red. It’s more of an orange with red tones. This shade I’m also unlikely to wear, as oranges don’t really suit me, but it’s a very nice shade. Jezebel is a deeper raspberry shade that I’m in love with as well. It’s a lighter version of Russian roulette. Rapture is a warm, deep brick-red, that I don’t see myself wearing, however it’s still flattering. Finally, Russian roulette is a deep red plum that is stunning. I don’t think I could pull this off for daily wear, but I really love the color.
Finally, I have a bonus swatch of the lipliner in daytime nude. On the website, Rose-Marie Swift states “I am a firm believer that lip liner should match your natural lip color rather than the shade of lipstick..My one exception to the rule is red.”
I’ve never though of lipliner that way, but I like that she has a theory behind her line instead of releasing a rainbow of colors to match. There are three colors: daytime nude (above, lighter color), nighttime nude (a deep shade), and dressed up red.
I thought the formula of this was nice and creamy, which is exactly what I want in a lipliner! I’m likely to pick up the red liner, as I recently learned that cream red lipsticks bleed out of my lip line without any kind of primer.
The packaging this line is a little boring, however RMS has a simpler aesthetic when it comes to packaging. Also, the lipsticks aren’t as pricy as I’d expect. At $28, they’re $6 cheaper than the famous NARS audacious lipsticks,
Overall, I’m a big fan of this line! I think the lipsticks and lipliners are great quality.
