Here’s my haul from my shopping trip in Milan, where I got a few lipsticks from Burberry and grabbed a few products to try from Kiko Milano.
For me, when I splurge on makeup, it’s always lipstick (and most often from Burberry). I’ve checked out a few of the other products Burberry sells (like this one) but I’ve never thought they were worth the money. I’m willing to pay $30 for one lipstick, but I would never consider paying $62 for this eyeshadow palate or $68 for this highlight.
Burberry is the most high-end brand I will ever buy (I discussed how I felt about Tom Ford here) and I just think brands like Dior and Chanel sell makeup that is so overpriced, you reach a point where you’re paying for packaging and only packaging.
Meanwhile, Kiko Milano is a new brand based in Milan with drugstore like prices. Their products are pretty cost friendly, but I’ve never tried any of the products so I can’t speak for the quality. However, they ship all over Europe and to the US which is great!
Let’s check it out!
May I just say that Burberry wins at packaging? I talked in this post about how the other Burberry lipsticks I own are so incredibly beautiful.
The bag I got came with a beautiful ribbon with the signature nude camel shade on one side and a rich purple on the other side. The envelope contains the receipt and the other two packages are (of course) lipstick.
The two lipsticks I got from Burberry are the liquid lip velvet in the shade 09 fawn rose and the full kisses lipstick in the shade 531 Lilac. I was surprised at how much I liked the liquid lip velvet because in this post, I briefly mentioned how I couldn’t find any colors from this line that I liked. However after trying this on my lips, I like it much more.
Lilac is a blue toned hot pink that is a perfect bold lip for the summer. It’s what I call a confident color. I already own one lipstick from this line, so I know I’ll love it.
From Kiko milano I got their Velvet Passion lipstick in the shade 303 rose, which is not actually rose but more of a pink shade. The tip of this lipstick reminds me a lot of the Charlotte Tilbury matte revolution lipstick, so I wonder if it’ll be a dupe.
The other thing I got was an eyeshadow from their new Mini Divas collection. I meant to get a bronze shade (02) that looks like something I’d find in the Naked Heat palate, but I accidentally grabbed a brown shade (03). I hope the formula’s good though. Click here to read my review of it!
