RMS Living luminizer review

Makeup Reviews, Reviews

This has a HUGE hype surrounding it.

For a reason.

I mentioned in one of my recent hauls here that I grabbed this first because it was the thing I’d heard of the most from RMS. Actually, as of the time of this post there is a quad exclusive to RMS (click here) with four different versions of the luminizer in it and it retails for $48. I’ve been eying it since I saw it teased on Instagram, but I’m on a no buy right now (and trying to declutter too).

So at $38, this clocks in as the most expensive highlighter in my collection, tied with BECCA Champagne pop (and it’s worth noting that Champagne Pop comes with nearly twice the amount of product). So is it worth it?

Let’s start with the packaging!

I love RMS packaging. All of their cream products come in this gorgeous frosted glass container with a screw on metal lid. There’s something that feels incredibly high-end about this packaging and I love the simple design. The RMS logo is displayed on the top, which sort of gives me a headache to read, but otherwise I adore this packaging.

This is the perfect highlight for the very tops of your cheekbones. It doesn’t look like anything special upon first application, but if you tilt your head and your face hits the light, this highlight softly illuminates your face.

I love cream highlights for days where I’m not doing a lot of makeup or for when I’m in a rush. All I have to do is dab this onto my cheeks with my fingers and I’m done in seconds.

There is one downside to this product: the second ingredient is coconut oil. Coconut oil is great for your hair, body, cooking (debatable), but not your face. At least not for people with skin that’s anywhere from dry skin to oily skin. Coconut oil is only good if your skin is extremely dry, because otherwise it’ll clog your pores. This is because coconut oil is highly comedogenic. It has a 4 out of 5 for how bad it clogs pores (view the full list here).

When I apply this, I can feel it on my skin. It slides around, unless I set it with powder and melts in high heat. However, I still like using it and I haven’t had issues with it closing my pores thus far, just with it being heavy on the face.

As you can tell from the photo, it has a bit of a silvery reflex to it. I love the way it looks on my face- the perfect amount of dewy and shimmer.

Overall, I really like this. I use it nearly every day and find it to be extremely flattering on my skin. I highly recommend!

Ciao bella!
