Blog, Favorites

Ciao!

This August, I’ve been loving a nice mix of makeup. The funny part about this post is that only 2 of the 6 products I’ve picked out are new. The other few are some that I’ve had for a while and I’ve just now rediscovered.

Read on to see what I’ve been loving this August!

Gone swatching: ABH blush trios

Blog, Gone swatching

Ciao!

While in New York, I got to swatch a ton of new releases at the giant Sephora in midtown. I was really interested in these because Anastasia Beverly Hills seems to be the unofficial queen of cheek products, but they have yet to introduce a blush.

I was really happy with the colour selection in these. A lot of times, blushes completely ignore deeper skin tones, but there are plenty of deeper and brighter blushes. Let’s check it out!

E.L.F. blush palette in light review

Makeup Reviews, Reviews

Ciao!

I don’t consider E.L.F. to be a hyped brand like Morphe or Sigma, but it’s definitely well liked and very talked about in the beauty sphere. I’d heard a lot about this palette specifically on social media, and decided to pick it up while at my local drugstore.

Did I need more blush? No.

Was it only $6? Yes.

Into my cart it went.

E.L.F. has always seemed like a different type of drugstore brand. Their products are incredibly affordable, bested only by Wet ‘n wild. I mean, at $6, I might as well be paying for the full mirror (which is way bigger than the one that comes with Benefit Hoola and that’s 5x the price)!

Unlike most drugstore brands (I’m looking at you Milani), E.L.F. has incredibly sleek packaging. Most of it is their signature matte black, featured in this palette, but I’ve noticed how they’ve began to introduce a more high end reflective packaging.

So it’s clear that E.L.F. has a strong following for both it’s affordable prices, mostly good quality and sleek packaging.

But I was still a little skeptical. Does this palette reflect it’s price, or does it compare to those sold at Sephora and other high end stores?

Gone swatching: Clinique Cheek pop

Blog, Gone swatching

Ciao!

Quick note: Ignore the price tag in the photo above. This photo was text in Canada when these retail for $29 CAD. In the US, they’re $23 USD.

Today I’ll be sharing some swatches of the popular cheek pop by Clinique. I really love this blush! I’ve swatched 4 of the available 11 shades.  I couldn’t help but notice that each of these shades looked similar to Elf Blush palette in light. I’m not saying they’re exact dupes, but blended out on the face they might look very similar…

Gone swatching: Kiko Milano Mini Divas collection

Blog, Gone swatching

Ciao!

Today I’m sharing swatches and a short review of the products included in the Kiko Milano Mini Divas collection.

The Mini Divas collection is a set of products that are travel sized. It recently launched to celebrate Kiko Milano’s 20th anniversary! This collection includes an eyeshadow (4 shades), a blush (1 shade), a bronzer (1 shade) an eyeliner and mascara duo (1 shade), lipsticks (3 shades), an essentials kit (scissors, tweezers, nail file & a case), a clear clutch, a kabuki brush, and a cleanser duo.

That’s a lot, so expect a long post.

I’ve swatched most of this line and photographed what was on display so let’s take a look!

Glossier cloud paint review

Makeup Reviews, Reviews

When I logged on to the Glossier website, my goal was never to buy any makeup.

Yes, I’m being honest.

I was planning on buying their new sunscreen to test it out and review, and I also needed a new sunscreen that would work under makeup.

But when I got to the checkout, I noticed that the sunscreen was $35. And in order to get free shipping, I had to spend $40. Did the Glossier team do that on purpose? I’m positive they did.

Even though the shipping probably wasn’t that much, I added the cloud paint to my cart because why not?

I wasn’t disappointed.

BECCA x Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette review

Makeup Reviews, Reviews

The day I bought this, I was shopping in Sephora with my friend. I’d been stalking BECCA’s Instagram for weeks, looking over each new post that depicted the beautiful palate and it’s accompanying sunlit bronzers. However, that day in Sephora I was headed for the checkout with a few miscellaneous items in my hands- an eyebrow pencil, a random lipstick, and a cream blush. I’d swatched the bronzers, but decided that $38 was more than I was willing to spend on a bronzer at that moment.

Then, I spotted this palate, set up in a gorgeous display right before I could access the checkout. I nearly dropped everything I was holding and ran over the swatch the beautiful colors.

“This is the best thing ever,” I told my friend.

Unconvinced, she shook her head. “You think everything is the best thing ever.”

“Not true!” I responded. A second passed. “Okay, sort of true, but this is amazing!”

She kept applying the eyeliner she was testing out.

Maybe it was the packaging that drew me in, or the stunning collection of shades, but I soon found myself saying “I’m going to go buy it,” and walking over to the checkout. Moments later, I was outside the store with the palate in my hands. I could hardly wait till I got home to photograph the stunning packaging and powders.
