gone swatching: fenty beauty Mattemoiselle lipsticks

Blog, Gone swatching

Ciao!

I’ve been following all of the new Fenty Beauty releases, but thus far there hasn’t been anything I’ve wanted to try myself. I talked about my opinions on the products that had come out thus far in this post on the Galaxy palette.

I do want to mention that just because those products don’t work for me, doesn’t mean I don’t like them. The famous foundation would be terrible for my (mostly) dry skin, but I couldn’t support the shade range more.

But these lipsticks? These work for me. I love lipsticks and really don’t need any excuses to buy more than I have, but I think I’m in love with them.

Let’s check out some swatches!

October favorites

Blog, Favorites

Ciao!

This October, I’ve continued with my love of orange eyes, nude lips, and general enjoyment of pumpkins.  I’ve really been getting into the fall spirit this year, as I discussed in my fall makeup post.

I’ve continued my setup from last month of doing my makeup at a makeshift vanity (comment below if you’re interested in a full post on it), meaning I’ve been using palettes for weeks in a row. This is a great way to get a feel for a product, and it’s encouraged me to be more creative in getting different looks out of the same palette or mixing and matching palettes.

E.L.F. blush palette in light review

Makeup Reviews, Reviews

Ciao!

I don’t consider E.L.F. to be a hyped brand like Morphe or Sigma, but it’s definitely well liked and very talked about in the beauty sphere. I’d heard a lot about this palette specifically on social media, and decided to pick it up while at my local drugstore.

Did I need more blush? No.

Was it only $6? Yes.

Into my cart it went.

E.L.F. has always seemed like a different type of drugstore brand. Their products are incredibly affordable, bested only by Wet ‘n wild. I mean, at $6, I might as well be paying for the full mirror (which is way bigger than the one that comes with Benefit Hoola and that’s 5x the price)!

Unlike most drugstore brands (I’m looking at you Milani), E.L.F. has incredibly sleek packaging. Most of it is their signature matte black, featured in this palette, but I’ve noticed how they’ve began to introduce a more high end reflective packaging.

So it’s clear that E.L.F. has a strong following for both it’s affordable prices, mostly good quality and sleek packaging.

But I was still a little skeptical. Does this palette reflect it’s price, or does it compare to those sold at Sephora and other high end stores?

#swatchmystash

Blog, Lifestyle

Ciao!

This next week (or so) I’m going to be swatching some of my favorite products on my Instagram account (you can check that out here).

Which products? Mostly my old favorites that I feel haven’t been getting enough attention. However, I’ll definitely be featuring some new things I’ve fallen in love with. The best part is that I’ll be using stencils to swatch these products, meaning they’ll be much more interesting then the swatches found on the blog.

Downsizing my collection

Blog, Lifestyle

Ciao!

After 3 weeks of traveling while wearing simple makeup and only using stuff from my small makeup bag, I though I’d be excited to come home and utilize the rest of my collection.

Instead I was overwhelmed with how much makeup I have.

So I decided to go through my makeup and pull out two piles:

  1. Makeup that is bad and I don’t use because I hate the color/how it performs. This was a small pile.
  2. Makeup that is okay to great that I just don’t reach for because it gets lost in my collection. This was a bigger pile.

The makeup I determined was bad, I put away to be reviews and then given away/thrown out. The makeup that wasn’t given enough use, I put into a box to use over the next few weeks. Am I not reaching for it because it gets buried underneath other makeup? Am I not reaching for it because it doesn’t have a place in my collection? Am I not reaching for it because I have other products that duplicate this?

Time to find out!

I’ll be updating my experience with what I get rid of in the end. The things I’ve already gotten rid of (given to a friend) are…

-NYX soft matte lip cream in London (the color was awful on me)

-Julep eyeshadow 101 in Bronze shimmer (color looked bad on my skin tone).
