The best natural highlighters

Blog, The Bella Edit

Ciao!

I love highlighters a lot. However, I don’t wear bold highlighters (*cough* BECCA champagne pop *cough*) often, and especially when I’m running late or on doing my makeup in a rush, I don’t have time to blend out a super shocking highlight.

I also wear mostly natural makeup, so these are my favorite highlights I wear on a daily basis for a glowing face. None of these have glitter in them either, which is great!

Quick note: all of these are natural highlights, so they tend to look fairly similar on the face. I would recommend looking through this list and picking one (some of these are palettes if you really want more options) that suits you.

Enjoy!

Gone swatching: Tarte clay face shaping palette

Blog, Gone swatching

Ciao!

While I was in New York I got the chance to visit the largest Sephora in the world, stocked with all the newest releases, one of which being this palette. I was really excited for the launch of this on Tarte and I was super excited to test it out for myself.

Tarte describes this as a palette that can be used to sculpt all parts of your face. You can use this as eyeshadow, brow powder, contour powder or bronzing powder. All of the shades in this are matte.

July Favorites

Blog, Favorites

Ciao!

When I went to organize the products for this post, it literally took me five seconds. All of these products I’ve been using non stop throughout July and I’ve loved them. A few are new to me and I’ve recently got in the last month and the rest are products I’ve had sitting in my collection and have only started to use them this month.

Test drive: Sephora birthday gift

Reviews, Test Drive

Ciao!

Welcome to Test Drive, where I’ll be reviewing free samples, gift with purchases, or other forms of smaller makeup products. First up is this birthday gift available for Beauty Insiders, VIB’s, and VIB Rouges at Sephora. There are three available gifts, but I picked the makeup option from Tarte cosmetics.

First, I’m sorry to say that this is the only makeup option and it’s clearly directed at people with fair skin. It’s a light blush and a light liquid lipstick that clearly won’t work for anyone darker than a light-medium skin tone. I hope Sephora realizes this and makes two offering for makeup or a more adjustable option like a red lipstick and deeper blush that can be more universal.

I love Tarte and they’re one of my favorite brands, so I was excited when I saw this. Let’s take a look!

7 dupes for the Naked Heat palette

Blog, The dupe test

Ciao!

So the Naked Heat palette came out in the middle of June and naturally people freaked out. It was the first Naked palette in 2 years, and they hype was crazy for it. I really wanted it at first. Then I read this post from the Anti Haul blog that cut through all the noise and I decided I didn’t need it…right now.

I was however interested in the colors featured in the palette. Would warm bronzes look good on me? Would I like them? Is this a trend I want to follow?

I wasn’t sure, so I decided to look through my collection for similar shades and look a little online for some close dupes.

A quick note about this post: none of these are exactly the same as the Naked Heat as I do not own it and have not swatched. I also don’t own most of the dupes I’m suggesting. However, if you’re looking to try similar shades at a lower price, this is a good post for you. For comparison swatches, I’m using this post by The Anna Edit.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea eyeshadow palette review

Makeup Reviews, Reviews

I online stalked this product for months (months!) before buying it.

And I haven’t regretted it.

I got this for my birthday back in February. The Volume 2 of this palette had just launched, but I passed on it because I felt like the colors were too harsh for me and I prefer natural looks more. The Volume 3 hadn’t launched yet, but I explain here why I won’t be getting that either.

This is honestly the perfect palette for me. There are two mattes which both blend so smoothly, and the shimmery shades are gorgeous with minimal fallout. What else can you ask for in a palette?

Anti haul #1

Blog, Hauls

Ciao!

This is not (by any means) a new idea. In fact, one of my favorite blogs right now is The Anti Haul Blog, a blog dedicating to helping people fight consumerism. But I liked reading other people’s anti hauls, so I thought it’d be cool to do one myself.

The point of this anti haul is for me to explain what I won’t be buying, for a variety of reasons. Keep reading for a full list of products I’ll be passing on!

Gone swatching: Tarte rainforest of the sea Color Splash Lipstick

Blog, Gone swatching

Wow that’s a long name.

Ciao! Welcome to another episode of gone swatching, where I’ll be swatching my favorite nude lipsticks from the Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash lipstick collection. I haven’t bought any of them yet, but I’ve been eying the collection every time I visit Sephora. The marbled blue packaging is beautiful (yet a tad chunky) and I love the lipsticks!

Sephora, Drugstore, & RMS Haul

Blog, Hauls

Ciao! Today I’m here to share a haul from Sephora, Bartel’s drugstore and RMS, which I found at Anthropologie.

From the drugstore I got two of the Yes to Tomatoes charcoal face mask, the Burt’s Bees matte lip crayon in Niagara Overlook, and the Rimmel London sculpting palette in the shade golden sands.

From Sephora I got the Benefit roller lash in brown, which is my all time favorite brown mascaraย andย my ultimate favorite travel mascara. My previous on was getting dangerously old, so I bought a replacement. Next I got the tartlette tease palette for travel as well as the rose gold liquid eyeliner that one of my best friends had bought and told me she loved it.

Lastly, from Anthropologie I got the RMS un-cover up in the shade 00, the lip to cheek in the shade demureย and the living luminizer.

ย Let’s check it out!
